The Parish Council meets in Gazeley Village Hall at 7.00 pm on the second Wednesday of every month (unless otherwise listed). Dates for the coming year can be found here. The agenda for each meeting is posted on the village notice-board and on this website a minimum of three working days prior to the meeting.
Members of the public and the press are welcome to attend all meetings of the Parish Council and at every meeting there is a Public Forum which gives residents an opportunity to comment on matters on the agenda or to raise any other issue of concern to them.
The Parish Council exists to represent the interests of the people of Gazeley. It has a responsibility to protect footpaths, village greens and common land, and deals with matters such as street lighting, seats and shelters and highway matters in conjunction with the county council. The Parish Council is consulted, as a right, by the district council on planning matters.
The Annual General Meeting is held in May of every year, as is the Annual Parish Meeting, which is held for the benefit of residents who can raise any issue of concern to them. This also presents an ideal opportunity for village organisations to advertise their activities or to give an annual report of their proceedings to residents of the parish if they wish.
Parish Council elections take place every 4 years. The next election will be in held in May 2027.
If there are more councillors being nominated than seats available (ie. more than 7 nominees), an election needs to be held.
In the recent elections, held on 4th May 2023, 7 Councillors were elected.
